About This Role
We are looking for a senior QA engineer who investigates rather than just reports. You will own quality across a React Native mobile app and a Next.js web experience, backed by Java/Spring Boot services behind a Node BFF. The work is hands-on: real devices, developer tools, logs, and APIs, not only clicking through the UI. The single most important non-technical trait we are hiring for is clear communication
Job Description
-
Testing & Investigation -Perform manual and exploratory testing for web and mobile releases using acceptance criteria, designs, and investigative curiosity. - Use browser dev tools to diagnose issues (console, network, storage, device emulation). - Debug React Native apps on iOS/Android devices and simulators; read crash logs and inspect network traffic. - Use Datadog for logs, dashboards, error tracking, and session replay to confirm client vs server issues - Test REST APIs directly (payloads, status codes, error handling, auth/roles). - Validate backend behaviors: service‑to‑service flows, data pipelines, retries, idempotency, and edge cases. - Write clear, actionable bug reports with repro steps and evidence. - Maintain regression suites and release checklists; help shift repetitive tests toward automation. - Use AI tools to speed up test case creation, log analysis, and investigation.
-
Communication & Collaboration - Communicate clearly in standups, tickets, Slack, and documentation. - Work closely with engineering, product, and design throughout feature development. - Report test coverage, defects, and release risks in non‑technical language. - Surface risks early and escalate when releases should not ship. - Verify fixes and confirm stability in subsequent builds.
3.Craft & Continuous Improvement - Help evolve standards for test coverage, bug intake, triage, and release readiness. - Grow technical depth in automation, API testing, and basic code understanding. - Learn through pairing, code reviews, and documentation. - Bring a mindset of experimentation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Strong use of browser developer tools for investigation.
- React Native debugging on real devices and simulators.
- Experience building automated test suites (Playwright for web, Maestro for mobile).
- API testing with Postman or similar tools.
- Basic SQL and ability to read structured logs.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog or similar).
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- CI/CD test integration (GitHub Actions or similar).
Nice to have - Ability to read TypeScript/React code. - Familiarity with Jest/Testing Library. - Experience with feature flags (Optimizely, LaunchDarkly). - Analytics/event tracking validation (Segment, Mixpanel, Braze). - Mobile crash reporting tools (Sentry, Crashlytics). - Jira and test case management tools. - Exposure to accessibility, performance, and load testing. - Understanding of mobile build distribution (TestFlight, Play Store internal testing, OTA updates).
